“Moving Journalism Forward”: call for Young Journalists to International Journalism Laboratory

Are you studying or already taking your first steps in journalism? Or maybe you are still in your final year of school, but you have talent and want to learn how to ethically spread the message out to the world in an innovative way?

During the programme you will:

  • meet Lithuanian and foreign masters of analytical and investigative journalism, who will give you lectures on the principles and ethics of journalism, interview techniques, ways of communicating with sources, methods of investigative and analytical journalism, creative journalistic writing.
  • learn about the laws that journalists use to obtain and verify information; learn how to interpret and visualise statistics.
  • After completing the programme, you will be able to distinguish between reliable information and hoaxes and manipulation.
  • With the help of professional journalists, you will develop a journalistic theme and write an analytical article yourself, which we will publish in the mass media of the country.
  • experience what a powerful weapon professional and ethical journalism can be in exposing human rights violations.

During the programme, we will meet for training on 12-16 October 2022. And for the young journalists that demonstrated the greatest results and motivation, there will be more opportunities for international training and travel!

The most motivated applicants will be invited to participate in the programme. Priority will be given to candidates who are fluent in Russian, Polish and other local or foreign languages in addition to Lithuanian or other partners languages.

Priority is given to students of journalism or those already working in journalism. The project is open to young journalists aged between 16 and 25 who:

  • Are fluent in English.
  • They know that once they are admitted to the programme, they are committed to participating in the full duration of the programme and in all project activities.
  • Available to participate in training: 12-16 October.
  • Understand that the greatest educational challenges and achievements are activities between training, either individually or as part of a team (analytical journalistic work).
  • They are ready to work hard with experts themselves.
  • Undertake the analytical journalistic work, either individually or with a selected team.

  • Place: Antaliepte, Lithuania
  • Number of Participants: 30 (5 participants from each project partner)
  • Costs: We provide you with accommodation, meals and reimburse the travel expenses, but be aware that the contribution to travels has certain limits.
